Russ O’Blenes, the CEO of GM Performance Power Units and a 34‑year General Motors veteran. A 1991 mechanical engineering graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he joined GM and GM Racing in 1993 and led racing propulsion programs in off‑road, NASCAR, NHRA and road racing platforms. In 2003 he built and grew GM’s Performance & Racing Propulsion team to 135+ people across two facilities, delivering winning engines and powertrain systems for racing and production projects, plus multiple ICE and electric Crate systems. Russ retired from GM in 2025 and now leading the effort to develop the Formula 1 power units that will power the Cadillac Formula 1 cars in the future.
